History
Tintplus was established in 1994 to provide a window tinting service to new car dealers in Springwood, QLD. It quickly gained a reputation amongst its customers for the quality of its service and in 1995 a local car dealer nominated Tintplus for a Logan Business Achievers Award. Tintplus went on to win the 1995 Award. In 1996 and in 1997 it was again nominated for an award and in 1997 gained a Highly Commended Award.
The early success Tintplus achieved through its quality of work and customer service to the car dealers in Springwood were lessons it learnt well. Today, the “Tintplus way” is a source of pride with employees and a source of satisfaction for customers.
In 1996 Tintplus opened a second outlet at Mt Gravatt to serve the local car dealers and the public. Between early 2000 and 2005 Tintplus significantly increased the number of new car dealers it served through the development of an efficient and cost effective on-site tinting service for larger dealerships and a mobile tinting service for smaller car dealerships.
In 2005 Tintplus moved its Head Office to new, larger, premises in Mansfield to provide customers a complete vehicle protection and window tinting service. By that stage Tintplus had grown to be one of the leading suppliers of tinting and vehicle protection services to new car dealerships in Brisbane. However, in mid 2006 Tintplus decided to close its New Car Dealer Division. This decision was prompted by advice from one of its dealers that trading conditions were difficult and it could only pay $120 a car for window tinting. Since Tintplus was already supplying the dealership the cheapest film it could source from the USA, Tintplus decided it would damage its reputation to reduce the quality of the product further and supply the dealership low cost film from Asia in order to meet the dealerships new price point. As the profitability of the Division had been in decline for a number of years a decision was taken to close the Dealer Division and focus resources on home and office window tinting and the automotive retail market.
Home and Office Window Tinting
In 2001 Tintplus commenced a major expansion of its home and office window tinting business and secured the Australian distribution rights for Smart Films. These high technology films, that block the heat without darkening a home, gained immediate market acceptance by addressing the major concern of customers. Tintplus has installed Smart Films in thousands of homes (and many office buildings) in SE Queensland (from Caboolture in the north, west to Ipswich and south to the Tweed) and is now a major supplier of home and office window tinting services in the Brisbane and Gold Coast markets.
Car Tinting and New Car Protection
Tintplus has provided a window tinting service to the public since 1994. In 2005 Tintplus decided that car tint customers were not well served by Tintplus or by other tint shops located in industrial areas where customers were often stranded with nothing to do. It entered into a strategic alliance with Sparkles Car Care to offer customers a window tinting service at five major shopping centers in Brisbane and suburbs. However, Sparkles Car Care experienced financial difficulties and for a couple of years Tintplus could only offer its customers the convenience of a shopping centre location at Toowong Village. In 2011 Tintplus is again expanding installation at shopping centres to allow customers to shop, meet friends or catch a movie while their vehicle is tinted. Tintplus is also reviving its mobile "we come to you" tinting service.
