Please note:

You DO NOT need to replace glass to comply with AS1288

• The installation of safety film will upgrade normal annealed glass to comply with the human impact safety standard (AS1288) and protect people against glass injury.

New Australian Standard AS1288 covers all installations of glass that might be prone to accidents (eg sliding doors, low windows or glass near playgrounds etc). Glass covered by this standard MUST be Grade A safety glass (and in some situations Grade B Wired glass) in order to comply with the standard.

Specifically, safety glass is required under AS1288 in the following situations

• Low Level Glass in Residential Buildings - Grade A safety glass required where the lowest sightline is less than 500mm from the floor.
• Schools, Early Childhood Centres, Aged Care Buildings, Retirement Villages and Nursing Homes - Grade A safety glass is required within 1000mm of the floor in schools and within 1500mm elsewhere.
• Areas Subject to High Risk Of Breakage - Gymnasiums, Swimming and Spa Pools, Halls, Public Viewing Galleries, Stadiums etc have a Grade A safety requirement
• Doors and General Application - All doors and any glazing within 2000mm of ground level of all buildings are considered subject to risk of impact on human safety and have a Grade A safety requirement.

Family Day Care

Security Film

In the home you can’t rely on security screens.            They do only half the job

Ordinary window glass is the most vulnerable part of your home and the unprotected fixed windows are an easy target for criminals seeking entry.

Security Film is a high impact laminate for glass that makes ordinary glass windows shatterproof ... for superior window protection.

While the window glass may break if struck with sufficient force, the Security Film will work like an invisible shield to hold the broken glass pieces together and create a barrier to criminals. Also, by holding broken glass together, Security Film is often installed on glass in cyclonic areas to help stop water and wind penetrationin the event of glass breakage during violent weather conditions.

When a criminal encounters resistance (such as when the glass won't fall apart when struck) he loses his main advantage – time – and will probably leave for easier pickings.

Choose the level of protection you need

• 100-Micron Safety Film makes glass safer (it upgrades ordinary annealed glass to meet the Australian human impact safety standards) and performs an excellent job holding broken fragments of glass together to provide a physical barrier between the broken glass and human contact.

• 200-Micron Security Film offers good resistance to breakage and is suitable for most household security applications and for lower risk commercial situations where it will withstand repeated blows from a determined intruder.
  • a higher grade of security film may be installed in high risk commercial and government buildings.
